Potatofest coloring contest underway
EBENSBURG -- The 15th anniversary celebration of the Ebensburg PotatoFest will be held on Saturday, September 30 in downtown Ebensburg! To get ready for this exciting event, the PotatoFest committee has announced a coloring contest for children ages 12 & under to participate in!
-- Children are being asked to color the event’s logo and submit it by Friday, September 22 to Northwest Savings Bank, 176 Lovell Avenue in Ebensburg. One entry per applicant will be accepted. The PotatoFest committee will judge each entry and select two winners! Each winner will receive a $50 savings bond from Northwest Savings Bank and PotatoFest merchandise.
-- A coloring page can be downloaded from the website at www.potatofest.com, picked up at the Ebensburg Borough office (300 West High Street) or at Northwest Savings Bank in Ebensburg.

Officials to break ground for Ebensburg tennis facility
EBENSBURG -- A brand new six-court tennis facility will be built in Ebensburg, thanks to a large donation from Vince and Linda McMahon, owners of the World Wresting Entertainment. "The McMahon's donated the funds to make their mother's dream come true," said Deborah Nesbella, Borough Council President. "Now, their mother, a resident of Ebensburg, will be able to play tennis in her hometown."
-- A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 29th at the Lake Rowena entrance off of Lakeview Road.

Schedule announced for Ebensburg Potatofest
EBENSBURG -- The 15th annual PotatoFest celebration will be held on Saturday, September 30 from 9am-5pm in downtown Ebensburg! Enjoy unique potato treats like sweet potato fries, potato pancakes, homemade potato chips, and more! Over 150 craft and food vendors will line High and Center Streets, as well as, the Cambria County Memorial Park. There will be live entertainment in three areas all day long.
-- New this year, the Girl Scouts of Talus Rock Council will host a Miss Tater/Mr. Tot contest, sponsored by AmeriServ Financial. Children, ages 1-7 as of September 30, 2006, will be eligible. Judging will be based on personality, beauty and overall appearance. Registration forms are available online at www.potatofest.com, at the Ebensburg Borough office (300 West High Street), and at both AmeriServ Financial locations in Ebensburg (104 South Center Street & Lovell Park). -- A potato-peeling contest will be held from 10am-12pm in the parking lot of First National Bank! Jack Michaels from 96 Key, Travis Koshko from Fox 8/abc 23, Mayor Charles Moyer and Cambria County Commissioner Milan Gjurich will face-off in a celebrity contest at 10:30 a.m.! Others will also have chance to compete in the contest.
-- There is no charge to attend PotatoFest and a free shuttle will run from 9am-5pm from Admiral Peary Vo-Tech (Rt. 422) and Lake Rowena!

Young spuds sought for Miss Tator / Mr. Tot contest
EBENSBURG -- Participants are currently being sought for the first annual Miss Tator / Mr. Tot contest to be held during the 15th Annual Ebensburg PotatoFest on Saturday, September 30th.
-- “The contest is new to PotatoFest this year,” said Christine Strugala, Community Development Director. “The PotatoFest committee is happy to have the Girls Scouts of Talus Rock Council on board to run this exciting addition.”
-- Children, ages 1-7 as of September 30, 2006, will be divided into three groups. Judging will be based on personality, beauty and overall appearance. Awards will be presented by age group to the 1 st-3rd place winners, as well as, honorable mention. In addition, each child will receive an entry prize.
-- “Participants are encouraged to dress in potato-themed outfits, but they are not required for judging,” said Melissa Garrity, organizer of the contest.
-- Registration forms are available online at www.potatofest.com, at the Ebensburg Borough office (300 West High Street), and at both AmeriServ Financial locations in Ebensburg (104 South Center Street & Lovell Park). The cost to participate is $5 per child. Judging will begin at 12:00 p.m. sharp on Saturday, September 30 th. Potatofest applications now available
EBENSBURG -- Attention craft and food vendors! Vendor applications for the 15 th annual Ebensburg PotatoFest celebration on Saturday, September 30, 2006 are now available. “Last year’s event was another huge success,” said Christine Strugala, Community Development Director. “Moving the show up one week really made a difference.” Applications will be reviewed on a first-come basis. Event Merchandise Blowout Sale
EBENSBURG -- Now is the time to pick up your favorite Ebensburg event merchandise, because it is at the lowest prices ever! Beginning Thursday, August 31st through September 15th, the Ebensburg Area Business Commission will offer all vintage merchandise at discounted prices! This sale will be held at the First National Bank, 111 W. High St., in Downtown Ebensburg.

RailFest 2006 excursions
